Scra-P Project Overview

The follow details the traits of the Semi-autonomous Computer Retrofitting Actor - Parasytic subtype. Hereforth, the organism shall be referred to as Scra-P, pronounced as "Scrappy". Scra-P was designed to interface with robots and electronics quickly and intuitively, allowing an remote user to control the actions of that device. When it's not occupying a host, the organism appears as a pink goo. The goo travels though vents, joints, and other openings in search of a central processor to occupy.

Capabilities

The most remarkable ability Scra-P possesses is the ability to retrofit any two parts together seamlessly, despite different interfaces and manufacturing standards. As such, in the event of a broken arm or leg, it can find and adapt appendages from other devices to serve as a replacement.

Operator Interface

Currently the interface is under development so events occurring in the real world are only displayed as informational text. Otherwise, from here your control panel you can select a body part to use it's associated action, generally to attack your enemies. Future updates to interface will include visual representation as well as parts that do more than just hurt things. The following symbols represent traits of the part.

  1. Attack power (x) number of attacks performed
  2. Remaining charges/uses of a part (not implemented)
  3. Accuracy: 5 red dots being max (100%) and 0 being the minimum (50%)
  4. Speed: Number of ticks/rounds before the attack activates. Each dot represents one turn.
  5. Cool-down: After an attack activates, how long before the part can be used again.

Hint: Combine fast attacks with long cool-downs with slow attacks to get the best of both worlds!

This game was created for the Cre8 game jam September 2023, a jam dedicated to Pico-8 projects. https://itch.io/jam/cre8-jam It's under-cooked compared to my initial ambitions, as most jam projects are. If you like the concept though, let me know in the comments so I know if this is worth pursuing any further!
